A barrier-island refuge on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, known as much for its wild ponies as for the shorebirds, waterfowl, and raptors that use its marshes and beach along the Atlantic Flyway.
The Wildlife Loop and beach road cover most of the refuge by car, with a few short trails and a boardwalk over the marsh for a closer look.
