About
Who I am
I'm Kim Holloman, a nature photographer based in Northern Virginia. I spend most weekends somewhere between a marsh boardwalk and a mountain overlook, camera in hand, waiting for light.
Why field notes
A photo of a heron is nice to look at; a photo of a heron with a note on how it hunts, where to find one, and what the light was doing that morning is more useful and more honest about what it took to get the shot. Every photo here carries a short field note for exactly that reason.
