Aspen gold beyond the rail fence

An old split-rail fence gave a simple foreground anchor for a hillside of aspens at peak color, with the dry grass and distant mountains rounding out a classic Utah fall scene. No dramatic light needed — the color did the work on its own.

Getting the shot

An HDR blend at f/22 held sharp detail from the weathered fence rail in the foreground all the way to the mountains on the horizon, letting the whole frame read crisply front to back.
