Cascade in the spring woods

Once the fog burned off the meadow, the rest of the morning went to a small feeder stream tumbling down through the forest — the kind of unnamed cascade that’s everywhere in this watershed once you leave the main channel and start climbing.

Getting the shot

A 1/6s shutter on a tripod smoothed the water into ribbons while keeping the surrounding moss and rock texture sharp. A polarizer would have cut the glare on the wet rock, but the diffuse morning light in the canopy kept reflections manageable without one.
